Lighting Calculation with DIALux Luxicon

Things to be prepared:

DIALux Luxicon program, installed with
Cooper Crouse-Hinds luminaire catalogs plugin,
AutoCAD (.dwg/.dxf) sample layout.

The program and its plugin can be downloaded from Luxicon Pro download page.

How To

Open program, on Welcome window select New Interior Project.
First set the units first. Click Cancel on Room Editor sidebar.
Go to menu File ⇒ Settings ⇒ General Options.
Go to tab Global, set the units on Dimensions and Lighting. In this tutorial use Imperial for both units. Then OK.
In drawing workspace, right click mouse inside room and select Edit Room Geometry option.
In Room Editor sidebar, insert estimated Length, Width, and Height of the platform. Example: 60ft, 60ft, and 11.5ft. Then OK.
Insert drawing from AutoCAD to ease room and lighting editing. Before importing CAD file, things to be considered is simplify layout drawing with minimal elements which are:
- Structure layout
- Equipment layout
- Lighting layout (if you have assumed before)
Elements such as dimension, cable & tray layout, or notes; recommended to be deleted.
To insert AutoCAD drawing, go to menu File ⇒ Import ⇒ DWG or DXF File…
Click Next ⇒ Browse for CAD file ⇒ Next, select units, choose Inch ⇒ Next ⇒ Next. The CAD drawing will be the background.
In drawing workspace, right click mouse inside room and select Edit Room Geometry option. Drag the edge of geometry to match up with drawing background.
To add more corner, right click on the edge of polygon ⇒ Insert Point. Drag the point and add as many corner/point to match the platform layout. Click OK to finish room editing.
On Project Manager sidebar, in Project tab, choose all Wall surfaces sub-element (use Shift to multi select), then set Transparency in Material tab to 100%. Since the platform doesn’t have wall.
Insert Round column from Room elements in Object tab sidebar. Set the diameter then click Insert. Drag to match with platform layout. Copy-paste to duplicate the column. You can also add any elements to the platform.
To insert lighting fixture (luminaire) go to menu Luminaire Selection ⇒ DIALux Catalogs ⇒ Cooper Crouse-Hinds. A program will open. Choose lighting fixture, double click the desired fixture. Tips: before select fixture, try to update the catalogue by clicking the UPDATE button.
Back to Luxicon, detail about the fixture will be shown in sidebar. Go to Mounting tab, choose Mounting Type to User defined, adjust the Suspension Height. Click Insert to insert the fixture. Drag the fixture to match with layout. Copy-paste to duplicate.
Also adjust Rotations for particular fixture, like the one mounted on stanchion. To make it ease, change view to 3D View.
Insert Calculation Surface to show the luminance value later after the calculation process finished. Go to menu Paste ⇒ Calculation surfaces… From sidebar choose Calculation Surface then click Insert.
When the surface box appear in drawing, right click on it choose Edit Calculation Surface. Resize, add and move point just like when editing Room to match the platform layout. Click OK when finish editing.
Time to start calculation. Go to menu Output ⇒ Start Calculation… A window will appear, tick all option ⇒ click OK.
After calculation end, go to menu Output ⇒ Configure Output… From sidebar tick any desired option or choose from available template from Name drop-down field.
To show the calculation report instantly by go to menu File ⇒ Export ⇒ Save Output as PDF… If the built-in PDF converter didn’t work use 3rd party software to convert PDF for Windows or print directly to printer by go to menu File ⇒ Print…

Integrasi Kalender Libur Nasional di Google Calendar [Update 2013]

Menambahkan tanggalan libur nasional di Google Calendar cukup mudah, karena Google telah menyediakan fitur ini melalui opsi Other Calendar (klik simbol segitiga) -> Browse Interesting Calendars -> pilih Indonesian Holiday -> Subscribe. Namun sepertinya tanggal merahnya masih kurang lengkap. Alternatif yang lebih lengkap melalui proyeknya Mozilla, caranya sebagai berikut.

Update: Karena yang dari proyeknya Mozilla terhenti di tahun 2012, maka lihat URL yang baru di bawah ini.

1. Pada opsi Other Calendar (klik simbol segitiga) -> Add by URL

2. Masukkan URL di bawah ini:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/caldata/IndonesianHolidays.ics –> hanya sampai 2012,
update tahun 2013: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/vgc446gn6f3tdd0drf84shn060%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

3. Klik Add Calendar
4. Beri nama untuk kalender ini, lalu Save.

Tracing Bitmap Logo to CAD File with Inkscape

CAD program like AutoCAD has limited function for art design, so it’s quite difficult to create a design such as a logo that has complex design. With the help of design application like Inkscape, we can simplify complex design into editable CAD design.

In this tutorial I will use Inkscape to trace the bitmap logo into vector object.
1. In Inkscape go to menu File -> Import… Then select the image to be converted. Choose embed option then click OK. For sample I use logo that has a few colors to ease the conversion.
2. To convert to vector object, select the image then select menu Path -> Trace Bitmap…. The Trace Bitmap dialog window will shown.
3. Select Colors and Remove background option. The value on Scans field is depends on how many color available in the image. Less colors, less value. In this sample I fill 5 for the value. Click OK.

4. The traced object will be located above the original, so move it to see the difference. Select it, right click then Ungroup. Zoom in to the traced object. Simplify the overall object by deleting unnecessary shape, usually shape that overlapped other shape with almost the same geometry. Here is my result:

Don’t worry about the color though. We can change it in CAD program.

5. After simplified, convert it to CAD-compatible file. Delete the original bitmap object, menu File -> Save As…
6. Select Save as type: *.dxf. Click Save.
7. Open CAD program, such as AutoCAD. File -> Open. Select the .dxf file. Now you can modify it as free as you want. FYI the objects are converted to spline type. For text, I delete the traced one and use the text command to recreate it.

Custom Launcher on Huawei Ideos S7 Slim

Default launcher on Huawei Ideos S7 Slim cannot be changed, if it forced to change it will freeze the touchscreen. But using some code modification this can be done and the device must be rooted first.

Huawei Ideos S7 Slim with Zeam Launcher

How To:
1. Root the device with gingerbreak,
2. Edit /system/etc/bluetooth_power.sh (you can edit with, for example, Root Explorer),
3. Add the following codes:
echo 1 > /sys/cap_touchscreen/boot_complete echo 1 > /sys/cap_touchscreen/state
4. Save and exit then reboot,
5. Install custom launcher. In my case, I have try GO Launcher EX and Zeam Launcher.

Saat ini dengan adanya teknologi streaming ummat Islam dengan mudahnya mendengarkan kajian sunnah yang disiarkan melalui Internet. Cukup dengan membuka website penyedia kajian online tersebut seperti Radio Rodja, Radio Muslim, atau Radio Hang 106FM; lalu menjalankan media player yang terintegrasi website tersebut. Namun saat ini menjalankan kajian streaming tersebut dapat dipermudah melalui audio player, seperti WinAMP atau AIMP. Dengan player tersebut kita dapat membuat playlist yang berisi kajian streaming tersebut.
Untuk tutorial kali ini saya menggunakan AIMP, selain gratis, aplikasi ini tersedia portable dan cukup ringan dijalankan.

1. Buat New playlist dengan klik kanan pada daerah ‘tab’ lalu pilih New playlist, atau shortcut Ctrl+N.

Flashing CyanogenMod 7.1 MADTeam ROM ke Samsung Galaxy 5

CyanogenMod 7.1 (CM 7.1) adalah modifikasi dari sistem operasi (ROM) Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread). Karena dari pihak Samsung tidak akan memberi jatah ‘roti jahe’ ke hape ini, maka berikut cara terbaik untuk merasakan roti jahe
INGAT proses berikut akan menghilangkan garansi, seperti biasa, resiko tanggung sendiri

Bagian A : Samsung KIES

1. Install Samsung KIES untuk menginstall driver handphone dan USB debugging.
2. Hubungkan handphone dengan komputer melalui kabel USB, sesaat akan menginstal driver handphone.
3. Aktifkan mode “KIES” di handphone dan selesaikan proses di KIES.
4. Tutup KIES dan cabut handphone dari komputer.

Bagian B : Persiapkan File

1. Buat folder, misalkan “Galaxy5″
2. Download “Odin_Multi_Downloader_v4.28.exe” dan “EUROPA_v1.0.ops”.
3. Download ROM froyo terakhir dari samfirmware.com, cari tabel Asia dan download yang Android version 2.2 dengan kode I5503DXJXX (untuk Juli 2011: I5503DXJP8). Setelah download lalu ekstrak sekali sehingga terlihat file .tar. File ROM ini untuk mengupdate baseband saja.
4. Download ClockWorkMod dari forum MADTeam.
5. Download ROM CM 7.1 terbaru dari forum MADTeam. Bila baru pertama kali flashing ke CM 7.1, download 3 file, Full update package (update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-MADTEAM-vX.X-signed.zip), Hotfix package (vX.X-hotfixX.zip), dan Google Apps package (gapps-gb-DATE-signed.zip).
6. Masukkan semua file di atas ke dalam satu folder “Galaxy5″.

Bagian C : Persiapan Handphone

1. Dikarenakan setelah flashing dan bila terhubung dengan Internet, semua aplikasi yang terinstall akan otomatis terdownload lagi, maka sebaiknya uninstall aplikasi-aplikasi 3rd party.
2. Matikan handphone, cabut SD Card dan SIM card.
3. Backup file-file penting di SD Card ke PC. Partisi SD Card menggunakan Minitool Parition Wizard.
4. Partisi dengan konfigurasi FAT32 dan EXT4 (maks. 1GB); harus dalam urutan tersebut dan semua tipenya PRIMARY. Lalu format SC Card tersebut.
5. Masukkan SD Card ke handphone.
6. Dalam kondisi masih mati, tekan dan tahan tombol berikut di handphone: volume turun + tombol tengah + tombol power (pojok kanan bawah); sampai keluar simbol segitiga kuning dan tulisan “Downloading…“.

Bagian D : Update Baseband

1. Jalankan Odin_Multi_Downloader_v4.28.exe.
2. Hubungkan handphone (masih dalam mode Downloading) ke PC. Pastikan kotak di bawah “COM Port Mapping” pada Odin berwarna kuning. Bila tidak berarti ada masalah dengan kabel USB Anda.
3. Klik tombol OPS lalu pilih file EUROPA_v1.0.ops dan centang Protect OPS.
4. Centang One Package dan Auto Reboot, klik tombol One Package lalu pilih file I5503DXJP8-I5503DXJP7-I5503OLBJP7_HOME.tar.
5. Tahan napas lalu klik tombol Start untuk memulai flashing. Biarkan proses ini berjalan jangan dihentikan, pastikan sumber listrik PC ada backupnya
6. Setelah flashing selesai, otomatis akan reboot dan masuk mode “Android system recovery”. Pilih opsi “wipe data/factory reset” lalu “Yes — delete all user” lalu “reboot system now”.
7. Setelah booting selesai, skip semua opsi. Maka Android Anda berhasil upgrade ke Froyo (2.2), namun kita tidak membutuhkan froyo namun hanya update basebandnya.

Bagian E : Flashing ClockworkMod Recovery

Lakukan seperti Bagian D, hanya pada langkah 4, pilih file ClockworkMod-Galaxy5-vX.X.tar.
Pada langkah 6: 6. Masuk ke ClockworkMod Recovery, pilih opsi Wipe Data/Factory Reset lalu Yes — delete all user data.
7. Pilih opsi Mounts & storage lalu mount USB storage. Handphone Anda akan terdeksi di PC sebagai flash drive. Copy 3 file update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-MADTEAM-vX.X-signed.zip; vX.X-hotfixX.zip;gapps-gb-DATE-signed.zip lalu tekan tombol back.
8. Pilih opsi Install zip from sdcard lalu choose zip from sdcard; install satu per satu dengan urutan: update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-MADTEAM-vX.X-signed.zip, vX.X-hotfixX.zip, dan gapps-gb-DATE-signed.zip.
9. Lalu reboot system now.

Bagian F : Roti Jahe

1. Setelah booting selesai maka Android Anda telah terinstall CM 7.1 cita rasa roti jahe Dan seperti biasa saat masih Androidnya fresh, input informasi yg diperlukan seperti login akun Google, enable Google sync, install aplikasi-aplikasi dasar, dll. Bila tidak ada akses Internet bisa diskip dulu.
2. Sebelum download banyak aplikasi, aktifkan fitur mad2sd agar file sistem aplikasi dipindahkan dari internal storage (yang hanya 130an MB) ke partisi EXT4 (bisa sampai 1 GB) dan berlaku ke aplikasi yang akan terinstall nantinya.
3. Jalankan app Terminal Emulator. Ketik su -> enter -> mad2sd on -> enter -> reboot -> enter. Reboot akan terjadi dua kali.
4. Modifikasi konfigurasi CPU. Masuk ke Settings -> CyanogenMod settings -> Performance -> CPU settings:
- Available governors : SMARTASS
- Min CPU frequency : 122 MHz
- Max CPU frequency : 729 MHz
- Centang Set on boot
5. Back -> Compcache RAM Usage -> Disabled
6. Bila aplikasi-aplikasi Google tidak bisa didownload, download manual dari CM7 Google Apps. Estrak file .zip, cari .apk, install dari handphone.

Tips Browse Internet in Dark Condition with Google Chrome

As we know watching your monitor with poor lighting is bad for our eyes. We can just lower the monitor brightness, but it just not enough, still feel dazzled. Therefore here are some tips especially when browsing the Internet in poor lighting condition.

Install Chrome Extension: Turn Off the Lights

This extension actually mainly used to darken web page to focus on video and flash element. With little modification in options, browsing in dark condition could still feel comfortable in eyes.
After installing the extension the grey-lamp icon will appear in right corner of address bar. To activate it just click it and vice versa. When activated the page will unclickable except video/flash element.

To make it clickable, right click on the icon -> Options.
Click on Advanced Options -> tick on Mouse Spotlight option.

To control the dimness level when the page dark, Advanced Options -> on Dimness Level Bar -> tick Always show the dimness level bar when the lights go out.

Wait until page loading is finished to make the extension works.

To make it darker, install dark theme for browser.

Guide Upgrade Samsung Galaxy 5 i5500/i5503 to MAD Team 2.3 Extreme App2SD Froyo-based Custom ROM

Since Samsung is taken so long for upgrading Galaxy 5 to froyo (Android 2.2), some group of people called MAD Team made custom ROMs based on froyo from samfirmware to be developed on this phone. To make it more insteresting, they have modified the ROM with some enhancements like speed, theme, and battery save. In 2.3 extreme, installed apps is stored in ext4 partition which has better performance than fat32 partition which is used in standard froyo.

WARNING!! DO WITH YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Pre-requisites:

Hardware:

Original Samsung mini-USB cable.
Samsung Galaxy 5 GT-I5500, GT-I5500L or GT-I5503 smartphone. Please note that the GT-I5508 model is not compatible with this firmware version.

Software:

Samsung KIES (link)
Odin Multi Downloader v4.28 (link)
EUROPA_v1.0.ops file (link)
MAD Team’s ROM 2.3 Extreme (link)
Mini Tool Partition Wizard (link)
Optional: WinRAR or 7zip

Get Ready!

Part A: Samsung KIES

Install KIES (necessary to install USB drivers, and enable phone USB debugging) and launch it.
Ensure that your phone is powered on, then connect it to your computer via the mini-USB cable.
Windows will automatically install USB drivers for your phone – wait for this process to finish.
In the KIES application you should see a window pop up that says: “Reconnect the device in Samsung KIES (PC Studio) mode. Current connection mode is not supported by KIES”. Ignore this message for now, and continue to the next step.
You should see the following message on your phone’s screen: “Setting USB”, with two options: “KIES”, and “UMS mode only”. Choose the “KIES” option and press the “OK” button on your phone’s screen.
Go back to KIES, and click “OK” in the same message box mentioned in step 4.
KIES will now attempt to reconnect to your phone – wait for this process to finish.
Once you are connected, you should see a “Basic information” screen with your phone’s information.
Optional: If you see a “Firmware upgrade” window pop up, close it. We are not interested in official upgrades from Samsung.
Close the KIES application, and disconnect the phone from the computer.

Part B: Prepare Files on Computer

Create a new folder on your desktop called “GT-I5500″.
Copy the files “Odin_Multi_Downloader_v4.28.exe” and “EUROPA_v1.0.ops” to this same folder.
Install either WinRAR or 7zip.
Using either WinRAR or 7zip, extract the contents of I5500M_DashBlacK_2.3_ExtremeApp2SD_R3.zip to the same folder on your desktop.
You should now have three files in your GT-I5500 folder: “Odin_Multi_Downloader_v4.28.exe“, “EUROPA_v1.0.ops” and “I5500M_DashBlacK_2.3_ExtremeApp2SD_R3.tar“

Part C: Prepare Phone (Downloading Mode)

Delete all 3rd apps installed in your phone. This is because after you’ve flashed, the previously installed apps will be automatically downloaded to your phone when you connect to wifi or data.
Then do a hard reset (*2767*3855#).
Turn off the phone and take out the SDCard & SIM card.
1. Part C2: Partitioning SDCard
  1. Format and parition SDCard from computer with Mini Tool Partition Wizard.
  2. Make sure your sdcard have ONLY THREE PARTITIONS and must be PRIMARY : FAT32 ; EXT4 (max. 1GB) ; and LINUX SWAP (50 – 100MB recommended SDCard class 4 or higher), not more and must be in that order. If you experienced heavy lagging after flashing (like me ), delete the SWAP partition.
  3. After you have partitioned your sdcard, MAKE SURE you FORMAT IT WITH YOUR COMPUTER.
  4. Do NOT use MadTeam’s App2SD to either partition nor format your SDCard.
  5. Next, Flash your phone with the SDcard inserted (and don’t insert your SIM card) as most of the apps will be installed in your EXT4 which is used as the internal memory instead of the phone’s.
2. Alternative Part C2: For those who have been using either Mota’s or Dashblack’s Roms, and already have partitioned EXT4, then you only need to :
  1. Format ONLY your EXT4 partition with Mini Tool Partition Wizard.
  2. Then flash your phone with your SDcard inserted (and don’t insert your SIM card).
  3. NOTE : This ROM doesn’t touch your FAT32 partition. It only use the EXT4 partition.
While the phone is switched off and SDCard is inserted, press and hold these three keys: volume down + center button (the large button in the middle of the navigation controls) + power button.
Keep these three buttons pressed until you see a large yellow triangle with the word “Downloading…” written below.

Part D: Begin Flashing (using Odin Multi Downloader)

If KIES is still running, make sure to shut it down completely before proceeding.
Connect your phone (still in Downloading Mode) to the computer via the mini-USB cable.
Navigate to your GT-I5500 folder, and run the “Odin_Multi_Downloader_v4.28.exe” program.
Ensure that the box underneath “COM Port Mapping” is yellow, this will take a moment for the color to show since Windows will install Odin driver first if this is your first install. If it is not, there’s a problem with your USB cable, USB drivers or the phone is not in Downloading Mode, so you shouldn’t proceed any further until you verify the problem.
Options: check “One Package“, “Auto Reboot“, and “Protect OPS“.
Debug: leave “Debug ONLY” unchecked.
Select OPS: click OPS button. An Open dialogue will open. Navigate to the GT-I550 folder (if necessary), and select the “EUROPA_v1.0.ops” file.
Select Integrate Package: click “One Package” button. Select the “I5500M_DashBlacK_2.3_ExtremeApp2SD_R3.tar” file.
Click the “Start” button to begin flashing. This should take around five minutes, and you will see some status updates in the message box on the left. DO NOT INTERRUPT THIS PROCESS!!!

Part E: First Boot (Recovery Mode)

When flashing completes, the phone will automatically reboot itself and enter “Android system recovery” mode. Don’t worry, this behaviour is by design!
Note: in the next few steps, you will see some yellow error messages on the phone’s screen. These messages are to be expected, and nothing to be concerned about.
Using the physical navigation buttons, select the “wipe data/factory reset” option. Press the middle button to confirm.
On the next page, navigate down to the only “Yes — delete all user” option, and confirm with the middle button. After the process completes, you will be returned to the recovery menu again.
Choose “reboot system now” and press the middle button to confirm.
After the first boot has finished (this will take about 2-3 minutes) and you have set up the basic options, turn off your phone and replace the SIM card.

Part F: Rooting the Phone

Turn On the phone, run the UniversalAndroot app that automatically installed after flashing, to root your phone. This process is important for the auto apps2sd to work.
Most of the apps will be installed into your SDCard (in ext4 partition). After installing apps, your internal memory should remain constant, until the ext4 partition become full. 1GB is a loooottt of apps XD…
If the phone get lagging, try turn off then switch on again. If the lagging still occur, delete the SWAP partition. Done! Have a nice day

Setting Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail in Android Email

Without install any 3rd app, you can receive and send email from Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail in Android default Email app.

Yahoo! Mail

1. Run Email app
2. In Set up email window, fill Email address and Password, then click on Manual setup in bottom-left corner.

3. Choose IMAP account.

4. In Incoming server settings, fill User name (just user name) and Password.
For IMAP server: imap.mail.yahoo.com,
Port: 143, click Next.

5. In Outgoing server settings, for SMTP server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com,
Port: 587, click Next.

6. The next settings is up to you.

Hotmail

1. Click menu button then click Account -> menu again then Add account.
2. In Set up email window, fill Email address and Password, then click on Manual setup in bottom-left corner.
3. Choose POP3 account.
4. In Incoming server settings, fill User name (just user name) and Password.
For POP3 server: pop3.live.com,
Port: 995,
Security type: SSL, click Next.

5. In Outgoing server settings, for SMTP server: smtp.live.com,
Port: 587,
Security type: TLS, click Next.

6. The next settings is up to you.

Fix Missing Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter

I got this problem after uninstall Connectify, the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter is missing from Control Panel. That thing is needed for Virtual Router, as Connectify replacement, to work. Got the solution from this forum.

How to Fix

Click Start menu
Type cmd on start menu search bar or All Programs -> Accessories
Right click on cmd/Command Prompt program -> Run as administrator
Type the following command then enter:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=NameOfNetwork key=StrongPassword
Done! Check in Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections
